Social Justice
At Edrington, we foster in our students the values of social justice and community contribution. Through practical involvement, they understand the significance and value of their actions. This term, our community has demonstrated remarkable dedication to making a positive impact to our community.
Our Early Learning Centre organised a sponsored walk-a-thon, while the Junior School hosted a sponsored wheel-a-thon, both raising funds for the Monash Children’s Hospital.
The Girls Middle School supported the Leukemia Foundation, raising an impressive $16,000, with students and staff members donating their hair for this important cause. Likewise, the Boys Middle School organised a sleepout, raising over $5,000 for Mission Australia to aid those experiencing homelessness. The boys slept outside in the quad without tents, to gain some understanding of what life is like for people experiencing homelessness.
Haileybury Parents and Friends held the annual Pancake Day and raised over $1,000 for Uniting Care.
I congratulate and thank all students and staff involved in these important social justice initiatives. Our campus will continue to nurture and value compassionate students who understand the importance of making a difference in our community.
Early Learning Centre
On Saturday, 2 March we held our annual ELC Family Morning. The Junior School Quad was transformed into a haven of experiences for children and families to enjoy, including a coffee van, pancake stall, animal farm, face painting, sandpit play and construction materials. This is an opportunity for families to meet new people, build relationships and begin their connection and sense of belonging to the Haileybury community.
Children belong to diverse families, neighbourhoods, local and global communities. Belonging acknowledges children’s interdependence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities. In early childhood, and throughout life, trusting relationships and affirming experiences are crucial to a sense of belonging.
This was a wonderful morning enjoyed by all families and children who attended.
Junior School
Junior School Family Morning
On Saturday, 23 March our Junior School Families are invited to attend our Family Morning from 10.00 am to 11.30 am. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and connect while allowing their children to play together. There will be rides, an animal farm and face painting as well as a coffee van, pancakes, and ice cream available to purchase. Please join us, bring a blanket and some chairs, and enjoy the morning!
Middle School
Both the Year 6 boys and girls have now returned from their camp to Canberra. The students were kept busy with visits to Parliament House, the National Dinosaur Museum, the Australian Institute of Sport, the Deep Space Communication Complex and more! The highlight, however, was their visit to Questacon, a facility that explores science, technology and innovation in interactive, engaging ways.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital. Under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program, it contributes $45 per student towards the costs of educational tours.
We thank the Australian Government for their support of this program.
On Tuesday, 20 February, our Year 8 Captains from both Boys and Girls School participated in a leadership workshop run by Tripod. This gave our captains an opportunity to explore and develop their ideas, whilst building leadership skills like public speaking and building relationships. We look forward to seeing some of the ideas they came up with implemented — we have such an impressive group of leaders this year who have already demonstrated their enthusiasm and passion for their respective roles.
Finally, we look forward to our Middle School Athletics carnival on Tuesday, 26 March. Students are reminded to wear their House tops, bring a water bottle, hat and cheer on all those involved regardless of House.

Hi Edrington. Huge thanks to our amazing community, we raised over $1,000.00 for Uniting care from our Pancake Day. You are amazing!
You have one week left to secure your seats for the HPFE Trivia Extravaganza. Tickets to play are $40.00 each which includes woodfired pizzas. There will also be heaps of fun games and prizes.
