Wellbeing is for everyone at HRS

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday period as we return to classes, and I am proud to announce our inaugural Wellbeing Week at HRS. This special week recognises the importance of ongoing attention to the wellbeing of our students, staff and HRS families.

This event will occur in Week 6 of Term 4, which is also Term 1A for Senior School students beginning their transition up to the next year level. The specific dates are Monday, 13 November to Friday, 17 November, which follows examination week for Middle and Senior School students.

In the ELC and Junior School there will be lunch and recess activities and some classroom activities throughout the week.

In Middle School, from Tuesday to Thursday, there will be rotational activities and special sessions run by renowned external organisations, The Man Cave and Flourish Girl.

“The Man Cave and Flourish Girl welcome all people to our workshops, in the group of their choosing as it relates to their identity. We acknowledge that the experience of gender diverse young people is extremely complex and our aim through our programs is to provide a space where all participants are free and safe to be their full selves and to be seen, heard and celebrated for the unique individual that they are. The Man Cave and Flourish Girl are very cognisant of the gendered nature of our brand names and programs, however, our focus is to support young people to become healthy and flourishing adults, as humans who contribute to their community.” Man Cave and Flourish Girl

In Senior School on the Tuesday of Wellbeing Week, we will invite Headspace to run age-appropriate workshops centred around managing friendships, anxiety and stress.

Our rotational activities will be based around the pillars of our Health and Wellbeing Framework and will include activities that Reflect, Move, Create, Action and Connect. Specially chosen recess and lunchtime activities that promote wellbeing will also take place.

There will also be parent sessions during the week so we can reach out to our entire HRS community.
