Educational leadership exchange

Some of China’s leading education experts have gathered at Haileybury to share their ideas and insights.

Haileybury welcomed Kou Jiarong, Director of the Wuqing Education Bureau, Liu Changxing, Former Deputy Head of the Tianjin Education Commission, Zhang Xinpeng, Head of Gaocun Government, Liu Xuhui, Deputy Head of Wuqing Education Bureau and Yang Zhe, Head of the Operations Department of Tianjin Education Press.

Haileybury leaders present at the educational exchange meeting included Derek Scott, CEO | Principal of Haileybury, Peter Rogerson, Yanni Galanis, Brian Gao and Vivian Jia.

On behalf of Tianjin Haileybury School, Mr Scott thanked the Tianjin, Wuqing and Gaocun leaders for their support over the last 10 years, while Ms Jia introduced our School’s educational philosophy, education and teaching management.

Beijing WOW invitational swimming meet

Last weekend, Haileybury’s Swimming Team took part in the Beijing WOW Swimming Invitational Meet at the Yingdong Natatorium Olympic Swimming Centre. More than 2,000 swimmers attended from across China, including 10 Haileybury students who competed in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events.

Amanda Qi Yuhan (Year 7) won her heat and made the final where she produced a personal best time to finish in 8th place.

Congratulations to all our competitors and a special thanks to swimming coaches Michael Mi, Jeff Yang and Lily Wei.

Haileybury University and VCE Subject Expo

Haileybury held its annual University Pathways and VCE Subject Expo with university presentations, subject information sessions and a VCE presentation.

The Expo allowed parents and students from Years 9 to 12 to understand more about Haileybury’s curriculum, overseas study and university life and other issues to consider when preparing university applications to study and live abroad.

The event was attended by over 50 universities from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan and China.

These included the University of Melbourne, Australian National University, Monash University, University of New South Wales, University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, University of Adelaide, Deakin University, Victoria University, Latrobe University, Swinburne University of Technology, Macquarie University, South Australia University and Griffith University.

There were also universities and organisations from other countries including the University of Arts London UK, Nanyang Polytechnic University Singapore, Birmingham City University, University of Glasgow, Education Department of USA and the Education Bureau of Canada.

Primary School soccer competition

Our Primary School Football Team took part in the Beijing Invitational Football (Soccer) Tournament and finished in third place.

We are extremely proud of our boys’ football team and all the hard work and dedication they have put into the program over the last few months.

Special thanks to coach Billy Gustasab for managing the team and for arranging the training sessions leading up to the tournament.
